Our beginnings
The Natural Organic Family, originally Marili Skincare was founded by Marili Aitken in 2012.
Arriving in the UK at 24 years of age with just £370 and no job or family, and unable to return to her homeland of Zimbabwe, Marili never envisioned that one day she would be running her own company – especially one inspired by the very country she had to leave.
Before embarking on her entrepreneurial path, Marili took on every job she could, from caring to photocopying invoices, eventually working her way up to become a Project Manager for a large corporate. "Initially it was sink or swim, and take on any job I could to ensure I didn't end up homeless."
After supporting herself and becoming settled in the UK, it was the birth of her son that Marili credits as the catalyst for starting her own business. When her young son developed a rash after using a high street shampoo, she looked into the ingredients and started to research them online, only to find out they were far from child friendly and potentially carcinogenic. At the time she was looking for a gentle face wash specifically for young children, but none existed.
With keen interests in health & beauty, protecting the environment and animal welfare, Marili wanted to create natural & organic products that parents and families could trust, and launched the first face wash for children in 2012.

We’re very selective and careful about our ingredients and how we create our products, and we hope this helps you to protect your families and our planet at the same time. It isn’t always easy to find products that are both good for people and the environment, and that’s where we come in to help.
